Summer Discovering Nature Ideas for Toddlers
Welcome to our 15 Day Summer Toddler Activities Series! After a long winter, staying outdoors and soaking in the sun is perfect for little ones! Here are some nature discovering summer toddler activities!

This post is part of our series 15 Days of Intentional Summer Toddler Activities!
Getting outside is one of the best parts of summer. Where we live the winters are loooonnngggg. So when summer finally arrives, we stay outside, soaking in the rays and just enjoy not being inside!
5 Summer Discovering Nature Ideas for Toddlers
1. Geocaching
Don’t know what Geocaching is? Check out this post from my friend Stacy at Humorous Homemaking. Reading her post last year gave my family guts to get out and try it out. We took our toddler along and let him dig around with us as we tried to find the hidden treasure.
2. Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt
You can get fancy and use my Nature Walk Scavenger hunt printable (soooo cute! and easy for any toddler!), or just call out things to find as you walk around your neighborhood.
3. Hiking
Just regular ol’ hiking is a family favorite in our house. We like to find different objects and point out different parts of nature while out hiking as a family. You can read 7 Tips to Make Hiking with a Toddler Fun here.
4. Nature Scavenger Hunt
Much like a neighborhood scavenger hunt, but this time you’re hiking! Find out how to conduct our own nature scavenger hunt here and get a list of ideas of things to look for.
5. Nature Study
With toddlers, they love to pick up objects from nature. Instead of sticking the items in a bag or bucket, why not use contact paper? You can find the details of how we did our nature study here.
I’ve always wanted to go Geocaching! Maybe we’ll actually do it this summer. Thanks for featuring my Nature Walk Scavenger Hunt. I’ve really been enjoying your series. ๐
I love your simple your printable, Jenni! The ones I found were over Sam’s head and not good for the attention span of a two year old. ๐ Thanks for sharing it with me!
Collecting rocks is a big nature activity for our toddler. I enjoyed your post ?
