Passionately Pursuing God Through His Word {Scripture Memory Challenge Week 7}

Has the Scripture Memory Challenge fallen off your radar? It’s okay to be honest. I’ve had to play catch up this last week.

To be truthful, I have been struggling with chronic fatigue for several weeks. Not long ago, I lay in bed suffering through a migraine and battling insomnia while my thoughts were focused on how I let myself get in this sort of shape, the agony of the pain, and how I will never get myself straightened out. I was defeated and overwhelmed with self pity. Then I remembered Psalm 119:11 {Week 1}:

I have stored up your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

Slowly, my mind began to turn toward God’s Word. I willed myself to run through the scriptures I had been memorizing, and for the next several minutes, I mulled one after the other after the other over in my mind. As I meditated on God’s Word, I was overwhelmed with gratitude. I was finally storing God’s Word in my heart. I was able to set my mind on things that are above, not on things that are earth (Colossians 3:2, Week 4). Oh what peace ensued. I continued to speak truth to myself and with time the headache eased and sleep came. What grace!

So if you’re hanging with us in the Scripture Memory Challenge don’t be discouraged. If you’re behind, pick up where you left off. Don’t forget to use the Scripture Memory Challenge Worksheets, and know that your labor is not in vain. I’m so glad I had scriptures in my heart to meditate on when I was overcome with self loathing and physical ailments.

{Scripture Memory Challenge Week 7}

Don’t forget to ask to join our Intentional By Grace community group on Facebook so you can be encouraged and held accountable to passionately pursuing God through His Word. Our community group is a place where we can talk about each week’s scripture, share prayer requests, and just enjoy fellowship with one another. We’ve also started our True Woman 101 Bible Study! We would love for you  to join us! And if you haven’t subscribed to Intentional By Grace via email or RSS, then please do so; we have our August Scripture Memory printable ready for you to download when you do!
