New Book Club Starting at Intentional By Grace!
Do you want to grow in your walk with the Lord? This brand new book club will help!
Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life, by Donald S. Whitney is one of my favorite books for Christian living.
It was given to me over ten years ago, and it is easily my most dog-eared, marked-up book on my shelf. Rarely a month goes by that I don’t reference it.
So when I was thinking about doing a Book Club for Intentional By Grace Readers this year, I immediately thought of Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life.
Then when it went on mega sale on Amazon (still is!), I knew now was the time to take the plunge!
Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life, by Donald Whitney is for new Christians and seasoned Christians alike. No matter where you are in your spiritual walk, you will benefit from reading this book.
Join us for the Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life Book Club!
Starting Monday, February 5th, we’re going to start going through one chapter at a time of Spiritual Disciplines.
Here’s the plan:
First, you need to join the Intentional By Grace Book Club Facebook Group. Click here to join the group.
Next, you need to get your copy of the book. Click here to grab your copy of Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life, by Donald Whitney.
Finally, you need to save the dates on your calendar.
- Every Monday, Starting February 5th, I will post discussion questions in the group for you to be thinking about as you read each chapter.
- Every Thursday, Starting February 8th, I will hop on Facebook live at 2 PM EST (11 AM PST) to discuss the book with you.
Again, we’ll be doing one chapter a week. Since there are 13 chapters in the book, our book club will run 13 weeks and run through the week of April 30th. Our last Facebook live session will be Thursday, May 3rd.
I plan to only spend about 30 minutes on Facebook live chatting about the book. To take part, you just need to read each chapter and come ready to discuss and ask any questions you may have.
To help you out, I’ve created a schedule for you to print out.
Click here to download the Book Club schedule.
What if I can’t attend live?
If you can’t attend live, that’s okay. When you join the Facebook group, you can view the videos, and read the discussion that took place when you have time and at your own pace.
You will still be able to ask questions and gain valuable insight beyond what you’d get if you were reading the book alone.
What if I don’t have a Facebook account?
Unfortunately, at this time the only way to join the discussion is to join the Facebook group.
I know many of you try to limit your time on Facebook, or don’t have an account at all. You could set up an account just for the Book Club meetings and stay off the rest of the week, logging on to get the discussion questions and hopping back in for the live meeting.
But for now the book club will take place only on Facebook.
Any other questions?
Feel free to ask questions in the comments, if you have them. Otherwise, what are you waiting for?

I love this book! I too have had it for years, and reference it often. I even did a Weekly Newsletter series at my former Church on this book! So excited to read again!
My daughters and I are excited to be apart of this book club and look forward to reading and discussing the book with others!
Yay! I’m excited. Bought the book and study guide last year and ready to dig into it.
Thank you for recommending this book and letting us know it’s on sale. I’ve benefited greatly from your book, Live for Him, so if you recommend a book this strongly, I want to read it.
Would you please consider posting the questions on your blog or sending them via email?
Facebook has a highly addictive hold on me at times, so I’m taking a long break.
I’m planning to discuss the book with a friend and would love to use your questions.
Thanks for considering.
Blessings!
Count me in! I am so excited to connect with likeminded friends while growing in my faith.
I will be out of reach via Internet from 2/3 thru 2:17. Can I still join and catch up when I return. I can take the book with me and keep up with the reading schedule. Thanks.
So, this will be my first time in a book club… and I am super excited!! After joining the facebook group, I purchased the book, while appreciating the its on sale heads up! While looking a Study Guide popped up. Is this something that should be purchased as well. It is the same price as the book at the moment. *** can’t wait to get started ***
I just found last year’s study with Jen Wilkin’s Women of the Word snd sm thoroughly enjoying it. I just opened my email and saw this new club starting up. I’ve never read the book and thought I couldn’t pass it up at only $1.99 for the Kindle version!
Looking forward to this book club! I’m going to ask the ladies in my small group if they want to join too 🙂
