My Word of the Year for 2018
Have you noticed that posts seem to be flying off the press here at Intentional By Grace? I hope so because this is just a taste for what is to come in 2018!
My Word of the Year for 2018
My word for the year is press.
In a world where most people are trying to slow down, simplify, and do less, I feel a little bit like a fish out of water.
But press is my word for 2018, and I’m pretty excited about it.
Here’s the thing.
We are said to be living in a post-Christian culture.
It’s no secret that we live in a world that is becoming increasingly more hostile to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We live in a time of testing, in a time when personal study of God’s word is not only needed, but also necessary to a thriving, unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.
It is no longer safe, or even advisable, to hear God’s word preached and assume that the teaching is not false doctrine.
I surveyed my subscribers recently, and here are some statistics you might find interesting:
- 88% are not satisfied with their time in God’s Word
- Less then 20% read their Bibles every day
- Less than 7% confidently believe they can accurately interpret God’s word for themselves
This was like a punch in the gut for me.
These are my girls (and a few men apparently; hi, men!). This breaks my heart.
Maybe you can relate to these statistics, which brings me back to my word for the year: press!
I want to equip you with new tools, new resources, and fresh inspiration in 2018 like I never have before.
The Mission of Intentional By Grace
The mission of Intentional By Grace is to increase Bible literacy and Gospel understanding by equipping women with the tools, resources, and inspiration necessary to live gospel-motivated lives for Him.
The Vision of Intentional By Grace
I want to initiate revival in Evangelical Christian Churches across America through gospel-movitated living.
I will press toward this vision by increasing Bible literacy among my readers and by making disciples of the readers of Intentional By Grace.
I’m ready to press.
Basketball was my life for 15 years. During March Madness every year, my family knows that dinner may or may not be served. The toilets get a little dirtier than usual, and my brackets are sacred ground.
Sometimes I think I missed my calling to be a coach, but then I wouldn’t be here so I think I’ll stick with once a year madness.
My point is that this word press means something to me deep in my blood.
It means it’s game time.
I’m here to push to the fullest extent.
I’m here to do whatever it takes to win this game.
I’m in a full court press in 2018 in every area of my life.
“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” ~Philippians 3:14
I can’t stand by while there is a thirsty generation out there who needs to hear the gospel.
I can’t stand by while churches die and whither and biblical resources get harder and harder to come by.
I can’t stand by while 88% of my readers who dissatisfied by their time in God’s Word.
So, this year I am in a full court press.
I’m pressing forward in my ministry.
I’m pressing forward in my town.
I’m pressing forward in my family.
I’m pressing forward in my study of God’s word.
I’m pressing forward in my vision to see revival break out within the hearts of my readers.
Will you join me?
I would love to have you join me in plundering the gates of hell as we seek to grow in living gospel-motivated lives for Him.

I love your word and intention for this year. It’s so important to press into Him and press on with the call He’s placed on our lives.
I think this is great Leigh Ann! I agree that now more than ever we need to remain close to God and be examples of His love.
My word for the year is Simplify. This year I will be focusing on letting go of excess and things that no longer serve me, and keeping only what I need and love 🙂
This reflects my heart also, and I am so excited to see what does through you in 2018!
Haha – I’m still half asleep! I meant I’m so excited to see what GOD does through you in 2018. 🙂
