How to Use the Time in the Church Nursery
Since I’m not alone in my weekly treks to the church nursery, I thought sharing some ideas with you would be helpful.

I spend a lot of time in the church nursery. On one particular Sunday, I was pondering the point of it all when the Lord laid on my heart a very important truth.
My commitment to the building up of the body of Christ, no matter what season I’m in, teaches my children far more than anything I ever say with my words.
With this truth tucked into my heart, I began to think of ways to be intentional with my time in the church nursery.
How to Use Your Time in the Church Nursery
Pray for your pastor
Your pastor needs your prayers. As your pastor, he is a direct target of Satan, and he is just as susceptible to sin and temptation as we are. Our pastors need our prayers desperately! Use your time in the church nursery to intercede on his behalf.

Pray for the lost
Each week our churches fill with those who do not know the Lord. While you rock your baby, pray for those who do not yet know Jesus as their Savior. Use your time in the church nursery to pray fervently for ears to hear and hearts to accept the Gospel!
Care for the women beside you
If you share the nursery with another mom (or twenty!), be intentional to go deeper than the surface level conversations. Ask how you can pray for her during the week. Why not pray aloud together right then? Use the time in the nursery as an opportunity to connect with other moms.
Note: Please be sensitive to those who are listening to the message over the speakers. You don’t want to be a distraction. I’m advocating biblical fellowship, not to be Chatty Kathy. ๐
Rest
Each week is filled with loads of laundry, dirty diapers, and meal preparations. Then there is work and day care, grocery shopping, and bill paying. Mama, your week is full! Use the time in the nursery to just rest. You have nothing to do but rock your baby. Nothing else calls your name – no dishes, no dust bunnies, no nothing. Just lean back and rest. There’s plenty of time to think about your to-do list later.

I love your ideas. Whenever I am rocking a baby in nursery, I spend time praying for that child that they would grow to know the Lord. I look forward to the day where I get to see God’s answers to those prayers.
Oh, I love this idea! Want to rock my baby? ๐
Thank you for this. I needed encouragement to face the battle of getting my 3 little ones to church. They have runny noses today so we won’t be going but I’m definitely going next week and these tips will help me.
