How to Get Started On Your Goals in 2020
Welcome to the Give Life in 2020 Planning Week! Every day this week I will be sharing a new post to help you set goals and make plans for 2020 that will leave you saying, “This…THIS is what I was made for.”
No more setting goals that you’ll forget by the second week in January. There’s a better way, and I’m going to teach you step-by-step how to do things better in 2020.

It’s time you started living the life you were created for, so you can breathe life back into your home, your church, and your community.
The 2020 Made to Give Life Seasonal Goal Planner is here to help you.
You were made to give life.
You were not made for chaos, exhaustion, and worry.
You were made for Him.
And you were made to worship Him.
So, take a deep breath.

Where you are now is not where you’re going to stay.
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”
-Ecclesiastes 3:1
It’s okay not to do all the things all the time.
You get to choose what you’ll be saying, “Yes!” to and what you’ll be saying, “No!” to in 2020.
Are you ready to make plans and set goals based on God’s priorities for you right now in this season, right where you are?
Then, this series is going to rock your socks off.
Because I’m about to teach you my exact method for planning for a new year that has truly revolutionized the way I live life.
We’re starting now because I want you to be ready to give life in 2020. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, like you need to get your life together, pack up the holiday things, clean the house because you haven’t touched it since Thanksgiving (just being real), and, and, and…
Instead of all that, I’m going to help you get excited and READY to embrace new possibilities in 2020.
Here’s what we’ll be covering in the Give Life in 2020 Planning Series:
- How to Get Started On Your Goals in 2020
- The Secret to Actually Achieving Your Goals
- Growing Roots in 2020
- Choosing What Goals to Focus on in 2020
- Make a Goal Action Plan for 2020
Ready to dive into Part 1 of our Give Life in 2020 series?

Well, pull out your 2020 Made to Give Life Seasonal Goal Planner, and open it up to the first page.
Write your name. Go ahead and add today’s date, too.
Because…

This is the day that you’re resolving to be intentional and live boldly God’s plan for you.
This is the day you are resolving to maximize the season of life you’re in to its fullest potential.
This is the day you are resolving to let the Lord be the strongest influence in your life.
This is the day you’re reclaiming the life you were created for.
Ready to keep going? Great!
Flip over to the 2020 Brainstorming pages in your 2020 Made to Give Life Seasonal Goal Planner, but before you start, let’s chat.

Imagine with me for a moment what your life would be like if you simply listened to the voice of God in your life and then obeyed Him.
What if you spent less time worrying about:
- what the future will hold,
- what big things you can do for God, or even
- what your sister, mother, friend, or neighbor is doing.
What if you simply raised your hands in worship to the Creator of the world, the Author of your life, and listened for Him to speak?
And when He speaks, you immediately obey.
Then, you do this again and again and again.
Over and over and over again, you worship, listen, and obey.
Do you think you would worry less about what the future holds if you knew that you were plugged into the One who knows all things?
Do you think you would worry less about doing BIG things for God and be content knowing that you are doing that which He has placed you on this earth to do?
Do you think you would worship more and worry less if you knew it was really that simple?
I get it, we want to do big things for God and many of us spend a lot of time trying to figure out how we can do that.
Maybe you bought your 2020 Made to Give Life Seasonal Goal Planner ready to do big things and accomplish a lot of goals for Jesus.
I can totally relate.
I spent years trying so hard to live a radical faith, do great things, big things…
And it just left me exhausted, unfulfilled, burned out, and all too ready to say, “This Christian thing is not working out.”
You don’t have to look far to hear the resounding message that you were made for more.
You were made to do great things.
It’s true that you were made for more than what this world has promised you.
It’s true that you’re made for more than just showing up at church each week, or checking the box that says you did your quiet time today.
You’re made to worship.
Obedience starts with worship.
What if…
What if we did something different in 2020?

What if instead of starting with what you want for 2020, you put your best energy, your first fruits, into getting into the presence of God:
- reading His word,
- praying,
- worshiping,
- expecting Him to speak,
- listening for His voice, and
- trusting Him to speak into your days.
What if you approached 2020 first in an intentional time of worship?
Can I just tell you that He will speak?
But He won’t speak until you shut your mouth and open your ears.
You have to first be quiet.
I sound harsh, don’t I?
I promise, I’m not being harsh. I’m simply saying what we often forget: be still and know that He is God.
As you get into the presence of God you will be radiant (Psalm 34:5).
You will never be ashamed (Psalm 34:5).
You will never wonder if what you’re doing matters.
You will never wonder what He wants from you, for the one thing He desires from you is your worship.
The life-giving blood of Jesus changes you (2 Corinthians 5:17).
The Holy Spirit dwells in you.
He will guide you, but you must first hear His voice, and to hear His voice, you must first be still.

So, how do you get started on your goals for 2020?
Commit yourself to worship, and when He speaks write it down on your 2020 Brainstorm page.
There is no rush.
This might take a few days.
Maybe it will take all month.
That’s okay.
When you’re done, come back here. I’ll have the second part of the series waiting for you.

Hello Leigh Ann, nice to meet you. My name is Madelein and I’m from the West Coast of South Africa. I started to with Bible journaling and stumble on to you stuff. My question is, do I really need this planner because it will take months to get to me.
I’m looking forward to go on this journey to better myself and grow .
Hi, Madelein! I’m so glad you enjoy our Bible journaling resources! As far as our planner, it is actually a printable planner. If you have a way to print at home, you can have it right away! But I see that if you have to get it printed somewhere else and have it sent to you, it may take more time. Is there somewhere local that can print it? Also, even if it does take months, Leigh Ann always says there is nothing magical about starting to plan on January 1st. You can start planning anytime! You can start in March or February or later if it does that that long to get to you. You can email me at community@intentionalbygrace.com if you’d like more info and if I can help you out more!
