What does it mean to give life? Download this FREE topical Bible reading plan and spend 21 days meditating on what it means to bear fruit for Jesus!
At the beginning of Creation, God spoke the world into being. What was once nothing became, at His word, day and night, land and water.
Then starting on the third day, He did something a little different.
After speaking forth dry land from nothing, He instructed the earth to “sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, each according to its kind, on the earth” (Genesis 1:11).
He instructed the land to bear fruit.
He continued this pattern throughout the rest of the seven day creation, ending with the creation of man and woman whom He instructed to “be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over” everything He had made (Genesis 1:28).
Within each of God’s creation lies a seed which when tended will propagate itself and bring forth fruit.
As women we were created to give life.
This is the essence of who we are as women: life-givers.
And within the context of God’s intended design for everything He creates, we are called to bear fruit.
And it is through the power of the Holy Spirit, who was “hovering over the face of the waters” at the beginning of creation that will bring about a fruit-bearing response in us (Genesis 1:2).
