Our Favorite Children’s Christmas Books to Read Aloud

25 Christmas Books to read with your children!

It’s no secret that my family loves books and Christmas books are no different.

Each year our collection of Christmas books grows. We discover old classics, enjoy the familiar, and laugh with the antics of the various Christmas characters we read about.

This year I decided to wrap 24 Christmas books to countdown the days of Christmas. We always read stories before bed, and so every night my children open a new Christmas themed book to read. It’s fun to see what book they will unwrap. I think this is a tradition we’ll enjoy for many years to come.

I thought it would be fun to share some of our favorite Christmas books – 25 to be exact. Many of these titles we own, but many of them we check out from the library. I love filling our home with beautiful pictures and words.

Note: You can see all these books collected on our Amazon Store front here!

  1. Thanks for this! I will be taking this list to the library soon!

We did the wrap 25(ish) books last year and my kids really enjoyed it. I haven’t done it yet this year but I have wanted to.

I would add Song of the Stars, The Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree, and The Nutcracker.

  2. We do the same thing, I wrap up 24 books as well. I have many of the same titles you do but I need to check out the Pete the Cat Christmas book. My son has become obsessed with them. I finally purchased some as part of his Christmas gift. Thanks for sharing your list!

  3. Wow! Most of these we have not read! We’re gonna be busy checking out these new books. We love The Sparkle Box, Mortimer’s Christmas Manger, The Chistmas Sweater, Bear Stays Up, and Itsy Bitsy Christmas, to name a few.
