With that said, I thought you might like to know my top 8 must read books for mothers. There are some great resources out there, and I would hate to know you didn’t know about the books below.
Feel free to forward this to your hubbies! Books always look so nice wrapped and placed gingerly underneath the Christmas tree. Just me? Okay. Well, here are the books nonetheless.
Top 8 Books for Moms
The Mission of Motherhood: Touching Your Child’s Heart for Eternity– Such a wonderful perspective on motherhood. I don’t know about you, but I lose perspective far too often when I’m down in the trenches of motherhood. This book will serve as a reminder to you of God’s grace and will for you as a mother.
Loving the Little Years: Motherhood in the Trenches– Speaking of the trenches, this is a raw, honest look at motherhood. You will both laugh and cry as you read this book. I was so refreshed after reading this little, quick read.
Shepherding a Child’s Heart– A Biblical look at pursuing the hearts of our children. I love the way Tedd Tripp walks us through what it looks like to discipline our children not just for the purpose of good behavior, but for pure hearts as well.
Don’t Make Me Count to Three– A mother’s perspective of day-to-day discipline of the children. A wonderfully practical, funny look at motherhood, and how we as mothers can help shape the hearts of our children.
Beyond Bath Time: Embracing Motherhood as a Sacred Role– Another refreshing read about motherhood. Erin Davis is a role model of sorts for me. She’s incredibly talented, but understands the bigger mission of motherhood. I had a major paradigm shift while reading this book.
Together: Growing Appetites for God – I love Carrie Ward’s transparency in this book, as well as her practical method of not just teaching the Bible to her children, but spending time with the Lord herself. Motherhood doesn’t allow for a lot of quiet moments alone, but that doesn’t mean we stop reading God’s word. This book is practical, encouraging, and motivating.
Honey for a Child’s Heart – I love books, stories, and imagination. There is so much to be learned from a book, a life, a story told. Words are timeless, and my prayer is that my children adore books as much as my husband and me. This book gives great ideas for fostering a love for learning, as well as wonderful book recommendations for each stage of childhood. So inspiring!
Stepping Heavenward – This book has hands down been the most effective tool for growing me as a mother this year. It’s a diary of the life of one girl turned woman turned mother turned Christian. It’s the inside look at a woman’s mind through the seasons of life and all the sanctification that goes with this messy journey. A must read for every woman, and especially mothers.
