Today I want to step aside a moment and let my friend, Kayse, tell you about something she’s been working on. Kayse and I have been friends for several years now, and I’ve learned so much from her about being intentional, making a plan, and leaning into grace through all seasons.
I have not personally taken her course (I do have a course of my own), but I wanted to let Kayse share here with you for two reasons.
1) I think you should follow her blog. Kayse is raw and real and has the gift of writing soul baring truths that we all need to hear from time to time. She doesn’t write with a bunch of fluffy theology and she writes through a lens of amazing grace.
2) I think she is a great teacher. Because of that, I am certain her eCourse, Enjoy Your Life, will deliver on her promise to help you shed the guilt and make a plan that works for you.
I’m a big advocate for creating margin in your day and carving out sufficient time to rest. I’m also a big advocate for simplifying so that you have space to hear from Him so that you can live for Him.
Therefore, without further ado, I’m going to let Kayse share a little from her heart and a little about what she’s been working on. Check it out and prayerfully consider if this eCourse might be the kick start you need to start living for Him.
Guest post from Kayse
Typically, I am a girl with a plan.
I love planners, and I’m known for being super organized. I’ve got life written down and color coded and I’m guilty of throwing a downright fit when things don’t go according to plan.
I’ve always been this way. Before I became a mom, I had a plan for what I wanted to do with my life. I went to school to be a teacher, and then I figured that when I got married, we’d have kids and I’d stay home and love it.
Life kind of happened that way, with a few turns along the way. I taught for a few years, married my husband, and had kids pretty soon after. I am able to stay home with them, and I do love it. But it’s not what I thought it would be. And I have been fully surprised by all of these other dreams I had been storing up in my heart for so long. Dreams to write, to create, and to be more than a mom, in some ways.
I want to mother well, and love my kids fully, discipling them as I teach them about the Jesus who still saves me every day.
I also want to follow my God well. I want to pursue the calling He has on my life while filling the roles He’s put me in.
Yet so often, the days seem to slip away from me. I’ve got my plan, but I fail to live according to it. Life happens and things are thrown off. It is so easy for me to get caught up in a ton of little things, and I sometimes feel like I’m really missing out on the important stuff.
Where on earth does all of my time go? And can I figure out how to get it back?
Fed up with this cycle, I spent a few hours in a local coffee shop one day, and I literally sketched it all out. How my days went, what I was actually doing, and where I was spending my time. I also took the time to pray through what my priorities currently were, and what they really should be. And then, I rearranged my life in a way that made sense and lined up with what God had called me to do. It was a process that took hours at first, but in the end it gave me a real-life plan that I could actually implement in my real life! And that was well worth it.
For the last few years, when I look around and find my life has overwhelmed me, I come back to this process. I pare down, focus in on my priorities, and ask God to lead me in creating a new plan that actually works. One that allows me to be the person He’s called me to be, in the fullest way. And I start over with a new perspective, and a plan to walk out His will in my life, letting go of the things that don’t matter so I can fully embrace the things that do!
This has made such a difference in my life. Simply taking the time to slow down and systematically reevaluate my priorities, rearrange my schedule, and set into motion a new plan of action has eliminated the feelings of overwhelm that so often come with motherhood. It’s been a life-saver for me, and it’s changed the way we live day-to-day as a family! Life is simpler, and we are more joyful.
Even more, I have a plan that’s full of grace and white space. I’m able to roll with the punches and still live intentionally each day. It’s a whole new me!
After going through this process a few times, I finally compiled it all into one place, where I can easily walk through the steps and get my life back in order every few months or so. And I’m so excited to announce that this process is now available to you, too! It’s a brand new eCourse I’m offering, called Enjoy Your Life!
