Do you want to grow in joyfully serving your family? I know you serve your family day-in and day-out. But how’s your joy while doing so?
The Good Wife’s Guide: Embracing Your Role as a Help Meet by Darlene Schacht was written to encourage women to joyfully serve their families from a place of sacrificial love. Throughout the book, Darlene demonstrates how supporting our husbands and living in unity is a reflection of God’s design and purpose for marriage.
I love the raw truths laid out in The Good Wife’s Guide partnered with grace and humility from a woman who doesn’t claim to have it all together. I have been reading Time-Warp Wife, Darlene’s blog, for several years. Without fail, she points me daily to the Gospel of Christ and encourages me to draw from the well spring of His grace so that I can joyfully serve my husband and my baby boy.
One of the questions that really stood out to me in the book, and has had me referring back to often, was this:
Are you a stay-at-home mom so that you can care for your children or your internet friends?
Ouch.
As a writer, I spend a lot of time online. It’s easy to get sucked into various social media outlets and tell my baby to “give Mommy one more minute.” For what? So I can update one more internal link or answer one more question from my mastermind group? Reading this book was a good reminder to order my priorities according to the Word of God and to discipline my time so that I can joyfully serve my family.
Darlene not only gives thought-provoking questions, but she also provides practical help. It truly is The Good Wife’s Guide. My favorite quote from the entire book:
Faith tells me that His wisdom exceeds mine therefore I put my trust in his infallible word.
Amen.
Do you want to be a good wife?

All the chapters look like a must read, but the one I like most is about learning to manage ourselves. I have been wanting to get and read this book for a long time. Thanks for the opportunity to win it.
As american woman we have been lied to about what is really important and what God has calle us to.
I need to read Laughing over Spilt Milk!
I would love to get into each of the chapters, but the one most interesting to me is “Learning to Manage Ourselves “
The chapter I need the most is Group Your Life Inventory.

With 9 children I love learning as much as I can about family management .
Being Selfish is not Okay sounds like a needed chapter.
Would love to have this book… I could certainly use some pointers =)
I would say Time well spent would be the chapter I need most. That one and the orginazation chapters, lol
I would say Laughing Over Spilt Milk because sometimes I get too upset over little things
I would like to read “Love and Let Go”
Group Life in Inventory chapter for me. Thanks
Its so hard to choose! They all look great but.. Time well spent and the part 2 for me.
Time Well Spent sounds like a chapter I could use!
I need to read “Domestically Challenged” because I really have no clue where to begin. I’m getting married in 22 days and would love to be able to have some sort of insight from the beginning instead of just “winging” it.
I have been there, LouEsta! I was so clueless when I began too. I remember reading Elizabeth George’s A Woman After God’s Own Heart and really being encouraged in my role as wife and homemaker. She provided practical tips as well. The Good Wife’s Guide does similar things, as well! They each offer something a little different.
Also, http://www.homemakerschallenge.com is a great site for homemaking tips!!
Thank you so much for the website suggestion. I am going to bookmark it
I have been not so patiently waiting for this to come out in a hard copy!! So excited! I have been way too busy lately to check on it, so if it has been out for a while Don’t tell me!! God willing I will win it but if not someone will be blessed!
organzing your home
Organizing Your Home
I NEED help
All of part 2 and domestically challenged!!
I am pretty sure I would love all of it but really looking forward to Part 1′s Group Your Life Inventory and Part 2′s Toss Out 25 Things.
What a great idea, we all need angels in our lives to lead us to Gods will for our lives and Darlene seems to be mine at this very moment. I actually downloaded the sample on kindle and was searching for more info about Darlene and the book when I found you guys here. As far as what chapter I would start at it would have to be Chapter One, Learning to Manage Ourselves. I also believe in the “old school” family values that are so hard to hold on to these day and Darlene has allowed us as mothers in this new age to bring those values back into the home. I feel that sometimes my day is full of running in circles and not accomplishing anything. This can be frustrating and tiring for not only me, but a very aggravated, hard working husband. Thank you Darlene for this tool and for following Gods will, because you will help many women!
I’ve never even heard of this book—and now I wanna read it!
I trieed really hard to find the Table of Contents at the time-warp link—but no success. May I ask you to go ahead and count this as an entry in its place, please?
Thanks!
